I was just out there last week.  I went to Anza Borrega during the day and only saw a few lizards on some of the cliffs.  LLL Reptile and Supply has a store in Oceanside and Escondido.  There is also another store in Oceanside called Reptile Haven.  They were pretty good too.  I would have loved to see some wild herps out there but had to settle for the ones at the zoo.
