Thanks for this and your earlier reply.  By "soft" styrofoam do you mean the kind that 
literally dissolves if you get it wet?  For that reason I've stayed totally away from 
those and use the "hard" kind that don't seem compromised should they get wet.  

(I know we hope our packages stay dry!)

I think I'll replace the newspaper with hard styro popcorn.  Also just called Home 
Depot and will get a 4' x 8' sheet of foiled insulfoam to line the inner box.
