Greg, I think petrii are fairly similar to Stenodactylus sthenodactylus, which is what I have. I set up a little incubator inside the adult tank and had good success with that. Every week or so I would carefully go through the sand with a spoon to reveal the eggs and remove them to the mini incubator, being careful to keep them the same side up as I found them. The females will always lay on the hot side of the tank - mine bury the eggs.
My Setup Small saucer, about 3 inches in diameter (from an espresso cup) Square tupperware large enough to fit the saucer in on top of some perlite I put about an inch of perlite in the bottom and keep it moist I put the saucer on top of that, covering the saucer in about 1/4 inch of sand I put a good number of holes in the lid to the tupperware, mostly around the edge so that condensation does not drip from the edge of the hole down directly onto the eggs I nestle the eggs into the sand on the saucer. I place the saucer on the perlite in the tupperware. The tupperware goes into the sand in the adult tank, near the undertank heater. I check this mini incubator with temp and humidity gauge to make sure it is good temp range (87-90 seemed to work ok for me). I have also tried this with lower humidity by using sand in the bottom of the tupperware instead of perlite and just misting every other day. That also seemed to work well. I had to set up a little "nursery tank" for the hatchlings. They are so small that the adults may try to eat them, so you have to separate them from the adults. Hope this is helpful. -Sean From: "Gregg" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gecko List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 23 Jan 2004 07:17:06 -0000 Subject: [gecko]Help egg's?? Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] My Isreali Dune Gecko's -Stenodactylus petrii, have bred and i didnt think that they were old enough to bred yet, but i did think that the female could be gravid, and last night i found a egg! But it was kind of stuff to the bottom of the hot end of the vivarium. And as i tryed to get it with a spoon it got a crack in it, So i put it in some perlite and onto the same heatmat as the adults as i havent got my incubator working yet, and checked it this morning and its starting to smell, so im guessing its turning bad? I really need some help on breeding this guys and what to do with the eggs etc. and then help with looking after the babies.
