Hi.  I use small soda bottles and a water dish big enough to accommodate one.  I put a small hole low down the side of the plastic bottle below the edge of the water dish, and stand it in the water dish.  :)

My latest tip is to go to an arts and crafts type store when looking for plastic and nylon type plants.  The store I went to last weekend had a really big supply of plants (for making arrangements and crafts, etc) and the prices were quite reasonable.  You can put together a pretty nice forest for small coin.
