Hello all,

We've recently acquired a Crested Gecko and would like to get some real world information. We think its a "he", but we're not sure yet. I've been told that in a couple of months we should be seeing some things that will provide definitive information.

I've read quite a bit about his care and diet, but I just wanted to get some more info for those who know.

What is the best food for him and how much and how often should we be feeding?

Right now he's being given pear, apricot or banana baby food with a supplement.

He's also provided with a couple of crickets (medium to small) each day along with a bowl of 3 meal worms. We change out the dusted crickets and put the uneaten ones back in their keeper. In the week that he's been with us, I can account for all but 2 of the smaller crickets. None of the worms have been eaten and each night at least one of the baby foods has been sampled to a greater or lesser degree.

He has a water bowl, but we're also misting his place 3 times a day

He also buries himself in the bark in the terrarium. The terrarium is 22 gallons with a vertical orientation. In addition to the bark, we have real moss and a couple of plastic plants for cover.

We're keeping the environment at 60 - 70% humidity and the temperature is 65-70 at night and 70 to 75 during the day.

What else would be recommended for his health and happiness?

Sorry for all the questions, but this seems to be a very helpful group.

Thanks,

Jim
