Hi.
Last fall I was at a Dendrobates symposium in
Denmark where there were several lectures on terrarium building and some demonstrations around the topic. Amongst the others there was a demonstration on lighting. En experiment was set up with a UV fluorescent and a UV-meter about 15 inches under the light source.

Different types of glass were put between the light source and the UV-meter.

An 5mm acrylic sheet filtered out about 95% letting about 5% pass.

A 4mm standard glass filtered out about 20% letting about 80% pass though.
A 6 mm standard glass filtered out somewhat more than the 4mm glass.

The lecturer also demonstrated a special type of glass that was said to cost somewhat more than normal glass but it filtered out only a minuscule amount of UV light and let about 99% or so of the UV light pass through, the special type of glass was about 4mm thick.

Regards

obeligz
