Brandon---

I sent this to the list, but perhaps the photo was too big.  It hasn't shown up yet.

Hi Brandon---

My first thought is how old is your brother?  My favorite beginner's gecko is the Oedura castelnaui because of their calm temperaments.  This gecko is about 6" total in length and weighs about 15 grams.  They are very personable fellows with big dark brown eyes and seem to tolerate occasional handling well.  I will attach a photo taken by Chuck Powell of an Oedura castelnaui.  These are currently available from folks from $50 with an average price being $75.  They are easy to care for.

Hi there!

Well, at the herp show today i was finally able to get my brother interested
in geckos, something i've been trying to do for a while i might add.  I was
thinking he could get started with a crested, but he wasn't too keen on
them.  When i showed him some leaf-tails, he thought they were awesome, lol.
Anyway...my question for you is which leaf-tail would be good for a
beginner?  I know they aren't really a "beginners" gecko, but i would make
sure he was doing everything right (i won't have any problems with them)
until he was able to take care of one on his own.

I was thinking U. henkeli.  He likes their size, and if i'm not mistaken
they are the easiest of the genus to take care of, correct?  My personal
favorites (although i've yet to keep any) are U. phantasticus, U. sikorae,
and U. pietschemmani "cork bark uro".  I would be glad to help him set up a
cage for a nice CB baby, i think it would be fun.

Any thoughts on this?  Also, who are some of the better uroplatus breeders
in the states?

thanks,
Brandon
