Hey David,

I try to clean the bins out with Quatricide (mixed from Smart and Final Lemon Clean) about every two weeks. That seems to help. I don't use substrate, I do throw in fresh greens and chopped carrots nightly, these are all eaten with no leftovers. I put some T-Rex cricket diet in the bottom, if I put too much in it tends to get stinky. There seems to be a smell no matter how clean the bins are though....today I tried a citrus gel container from Home Depot, you take off the seal and it "absorbs odors" - smells nice! I also picked up a package of volcanic rock at Home Depot made by Gonzo, it claims to attract bad smelling particles with opposite electronic charges. It claimed to be reusable by setting it in the sun every 8-10 months or so. Could be "snake oil," however, I'll try anything! ;) Citrus spray works well as a temporary fix as I learned from the house selling experience!

Hi,

I recall someone mentioning using a substrate in their cricket enclosures to reduce the smell from the crickets. Any suggestions???

thanks,

David
