Hi Dana,

I would remove the younger female while the male is around. You can choose to have the male in there full-time or just have him visit for a few days a season to get the deed done, up to you! :)

Hi Julie -
Thanks for the info - that makes a lot of snese. Now I have a corollary to that question: in a case where the female that I would like to mate is housed in a tank with a younger female who is not quite ready to breed yet, should I take the younger female out for a while or have the breeders mate in another tank?

Hi Dana,

Male into female's home, this gives the female a bit of an advantage. This way the male will be investigating his new home and the female will be able to adjust to him more easily instead of him seeking her out right away in his territory.

Hi Everyone -
I just wanted some advice on mating leos. When introducing male & females who live in separate homes, is it better to introduce the female to the male in his home, her home, or a neutral place? Does it matter?

Thanks,
Dana
