Hi, I'm new to the world of gecko's, and received a gecko as a gift about a month ago. I'd wanted one for quite some time, so the gift wasn't too unusual. It's a leopard gecko, that's about 3-4 months old. I'm fascinated by this little creature, and have been reading tonnes of material about him. I read somewhere that leopard gecko's usually pick one corner to defecate in, and are consistent with it. My gecko is consistent, but in a most unusual spot. There used to be a styrofoam "rock" wall in the cage. He really enjoyed climbing on it, but I realized after a while that he mostly went up there to defecate. Of course it doesn't stick to the styrofoam, so it comes tumbling down and lands on other things. I removed the foam, and now he still tries to climb the glass to defecate. He's even resorted to climbing one of the plants to do his business there. We've tried to be innovative by adding a second "level" to the cage, but he'll have nothing to do with it, and instead try to climb the glass. He eventually gives up and goes to one corner, but not ever without trying to climb to the top of the cage first. I was hoping that someone could tell me if that's normal, or if I just happened to get a gecko with a lot of character and determination! I d really like to put the styrofoam "rock" back in because it looks neat, and he enjoys climbing it (good exercise). But I'm not sure that I can keep the styrofoam clean with his habit. Thanks a lot Sarah
