Sounds like photosensitivity to me. The parts exposed to light are a different 
colour than
shaded parts. 
I have 2 pictures online of a female crested gecko showing this effect. If you

Photosensitivity is fairly common from the looks of it. I've seen it in my 
Jacksons and Panther
chameleons as well.
