I used to work for Fedex... and trust me you do not want to ever consider them for shipping live animal. I worked for the HazMat shipping at fedex and we would hear horror stories from the docks about how they had thrown around packages containing live fish... needless to say the the packages usually ended up all over the platforms with fish flopping around without water. Not a pretty sight.

UPS is ok just make sure you raise your rates as they are now much more expensive and they don't know their own regulations. Check the website and make sure you know the details. I had UPS refuse a package yesterday because they "did not ship harmless geckos." And then they also told me that geckos were mammals and as such they did not ship them either. Yeah, LA is not the best place for shipping as I have discovered.

Good luck
Jason P.

Hi all,

I haven't shipped for a while and I knew costs had gone up, but I still
have sticker shock! Anyone have any suggestions for reducing costs? I
usually do UPS overight, but it looks like they want to charge by the
size of the box now. Anyone use FedEx? If so, how are they?

Thanks,
Melody

Hi Melody,

Sometimes US Postal will work in a pinch. I finally had to raise my
shipping rates too using UPS. I use Superior Enterprise's 12"x9"x6" box
whenever I can now, used to always use the 15"x11"x7".
http://www.superiorenterprise.com/boxes.html Use a small box and send
anything that is not a gecko through the regular mail! Fedex does not
take gex. Fedex ain't gexex! ;)
