Hi:
This is good advice except that I would only use a sugar solution (not
salt). I bathed one of my Giant Day geckos in a sugar solution when he
got too excited and his hemipenes were sticking out. It works very
quickly, within 30 seconds to a minute.
Good luck,
Dana

Ron,
I've never had this happen with my animals so I'm hesitant to reply.
I was hoping someone with more experience in this subject would reply.
The usual treatment I've heard about is a soaking in a sugar or salt
solution. Via osmosis the water in the hemipenes leaves and shrinks
the hemipenes so that it can be slipped back into the body. Here's a
link with info for iguanas, but it's the same for geckos and even
birds.

Of course, I should add the usual advice to consult a vet.
good luck and let us know how it goes.

Subject: [gecko]Leopard gecko problem

Hi,
? I just received a male Leopard gecko and I noticed his hemipenal
area is kind of purplish and swollen on one side, there also apears
to be something (his hemipenis?) barely sticking out. Any clues to
his problem?
