Frankly, I don't know what the wattage is, since I can't see it anywhere
on the emitter itself and the box is long gone (it was purchased quite a
while ago). 

What do you think about maybe putting a low-wattage red light above his
tank to increase the heat somewhat and allow me to see him at night
without bothering him?
