Indeed... I don't really have the free time to do it this month anyway.
I'm labouring on university work, a new project car etc..

I was thinking to re-work my patch for cached-screen coordinate removal
once you'd stabilised the glist stuff (in selection at least). Once I
get it done properly, I'd be really interested to "benchmark" it against
the current version on various spec. levels of hardware.

Seems to me that GUI and dialog fixes can work asynchronously from core
improvements and re-factoring, which - if careful, can be done
incrementally a bit at a time with no-one other than the developers
"noticing".

In the mean time... I'll try and get a libdbus binding to work with the
Lesstif HID in PCB :)
