Hi Hamish,
It has come to my attention that there are two bugs filed against gEDA/gaf
causing problems:
#399455 FTBFS: fails to link, missing Build-Depends?
and
#400252 libgeda: links against libgd instead of against libgdgeda
>From my point of view these are not bugs in gEDA/gaf. Yes, libgeda
should be now linking against libgd and not libgdgeda. Libgdgeda should
be removed from existance as it is no longer used by gEDA/gaf 20061020.
In the bug report there is one followup that puzzles me:
> Subject: actually a bug in libgeda
> This is actually a bug in libgeda; It seems libgeda is not build with
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
> libgdgeda, but with libgd instead.
How was this opinion formed? As far as I know, nobody on the gEDA/gaf
development team was consulted. Last time I looked (especially since
I applied the patch) libgeda should not be linking against libgdgeda
but libgd instead. From the release notes (very first line):
* libgeda and gschem no longer use libgdgeda (which was a gEDA specific
hack to the libgd library). gEDA/gaf now wants to use the original
GD library. (Wojciech Kazubski and Carlos Nieves Onega with cleanup
by others)
Thanks and let me know if you need any more info or help resolving this
from me,
-Ales
