Hi all,

I started to write some lines about dialog design and issues in the
wiki:
http://geda.seul.org/wiki/geda:devel-tips#dialogsdesign_and_behaviour

The list is not complete yet.

I will add some additional notes and some dialog design examples.
Then I think we should decide which is the best dialog design.

Here are three current dialogs from CVS:
The line type dialog: http://www.h-renrew.de/download/lineprop.png
The print dialog: http://www.h-renrew.de/download/print.png
The autonumber dialog: http://www.h-renrew.de/download/autonumber2.png

All have different styles, some good, some bad.

The autonumber dialog uses:
  ++ bold section headlines
  ++ indentation for section groups
  ++ section headings have no colon
  ++ element descriptions have a colon
  -- missing horizontal line before the buttons
  -- the elements are not equal spaced (it does not look good)
  00 it uses frames with zero frame width line

The print dialog:
  ++ all elements has proper spacings
  ++ a separator line
  -- the element description has no colon
  -- wrong button [save as]
  00 uses frames for sections and the section headings are not bold

The line type dialog:
  ++ all elements are equal spaced
  ++ seperator line between dialog and buttons
  -- section heading is not bold and has a colon
  -- no indentation

Which opinion do others have on the different design elements?
  ++ good
  -- bad
  00 neutral

Regards
Werner
