Here's an idea ..

Last year, we did the Google summer of code, but didn't get as 
many funded as we had hoped ..

How about we do our own "summer of code"?  The idea is that 
companies using gEDA, pcb, gnucap, etc ...  might be willing to 
contribute the money to do it.  We would run it essentially the 
same as with Google, but maybe with a date shift and minor 
changes.  As I recall, the amount is something like $5k per 
project.  It would be publicized only places like here, gnucap 
developer list, etc.

Of course, we would do the Google SOC too, if they run it again.  
This is in addition to it.

Is this a good idea?

Is anyone reading this affiliated with a company that might fund 
something like this?

Any students reading this who might be interested?
