I stay clear of Skype for a couple of reasons... 1) It was banned traffic here for a long time, due to its use of P2P networking infrastructure. On a decent wired connection such as at the University, their bandwidth was being hit far more than necessary. They do allow it now, if you have a NAT'd IP, but I've (thankfully) got real IPs. 2) Skype is potentially a security black-hole, and goes to rather extreme lengths to try and ensure you can't figure out what it is doing. No. 1 is of course the most problematic. Email is best for me, and for chatting, IRC. The #geda channel on irc.seul.org would be best.
