A load more changes and fixes have gone in, and I've just pushed them to
repo.or.cz. There should be a lot fewer drawing artifacts when zooming /
panning whilst actions are in progress.

All testing is greatly appreciated. I only catch bugs in the features I
use on a day to day basis. Since others work differently / have
different settings, different code-paths are executed which I might not
otherwise test myself.

NB: I still haven't fixed:

Place code:

Correct handling of undo's in the middle of an action.
("MOVE" being the pain there, although I did
temporarily work around the crash it caused)

Cairo code:

  Drawing multi-line text.
  Drawing text with over-bars.
  Compositor friendly rubber-banding.
(Although I did hack around the problem for now.)

Path / polygon code:

Update file-format to use multiple lines as Ales sensibly suggested.
Fix the internal representation of the final segment for a closed path.

Kind regards.
