Yup. I'll start on it tonight. Do we have a criteria for what class/severity/scope of bug fix should be on stable-1.8 other than "don't change any translatable strings"? For example, would deprecated function replacement be significant enough to do in the stable branch, given that it's not (currently) functionally broken?
