I wrote the script ages ago when someone asked about this functionality, but it never got included officially because there was not much demand. I used it for a while, but found the behaviour was more irritating than helpful. FWIW, Peter Brett has suggested I go though with the revert, especially as the behaviour change was not made in a configurable way.
