I won't push --with-readline so quick into fedora.
Did you try out --with-editline? It may solve your problem.....
However is there some proper documentation to help me know which part

No. Your best bet is to communicate with Paolo. I have some
recollections about how things fit together, but Paolo is the ultimate
authority. Get his addr from the ngspice.org website.
