gEDA-user: The Suite ISO CD in Debian 4

I am really struggling to install gEDA propperly in Debian. I used apt, but may components would not start so I now have the CD image.
I read the Debian.install which says I need gtk+2 developer tools. I'm looking for these now. After that what do I do?
