lets see board... 6 signal layers, 6 power and ground layers. And this board is packed. I did not use any buired, blind or micro vias. But if you do it in house then once you pay for a commercial tool that is what you are going to use. But my point was 95% of todays tasks can be done with PCB and that is commendable. Even the above board could have been accomplished in PCB but I farmed it out to some one who uses pads. If I was doing it myself I would have used PCB.
