Personally, I place one, set it up as I want it, value=... footprint=..., fiddle with the attribute text placement. I then copy-paste that, and finish up re-adjusting the refdes= attributes with the multi-attrib editor (you can click between different components with it still open). value= attributes I either tweak with the attribute editor, or gattrib.
