Hello Werner and everyone else who gave hints, Thanks a lot. The symbol rpm was not recognised by my yast. After unpacking it manually
./configure make install installed everything under /usr/local/share/gEDA whereas the other rpms installed everything under /usr/share/gEDA So moving the contents to the right directory made everything work.
