I have a GeFORCE (was that the right name?) and am using the binary driver. It works fine in normal use - quite fast with video and all. But there may be pitfalls. Eg. if the XFCE compositor is turned on, graphics slow down enormously - video is near impossible then (on a 2.6GHz AMD).
