There is not anywhere near 100% crossover of schematic and layout users. It's OK if they are different, especially if they get that way by features added to get things done by a user-volunteer. And if they add the wanted feature with the help of others on this list, there will probably be hooks for tidying it up and making them both have at least one common method, even if it's a "least common denominator".
