The font rendering you have there isn't even what is destined for 1.6.0 - its being replaced with truetype font rendering. I've been working on polishing that off today, but haven't quite got there yet. You could try it if you wanted (be a beta-tester for the various changes I've made to the code today), the repository is here: git clone git://repo.or.cz/geda-gaf/pcjc2.git Then you'll want to step into the directory that created and: git checkout -b cairo_experiment origin/cairo_experiment Then build as usual.
