Maybe, this is another instance of the infamous hyphenation bug. Do any of your footprints have a hyphen "-" in their file name? Unless the hyphen separates a revision number at the end of the file, it is a source of grief. gnetlist interprets it as part of a m4 definition and goes ahead.
