THE DEFAULT? Can there be a really smart default for via size? Some people may want really large vias for boards built at home, others 0.1 mm micro-vias! OK, you may get a default value from gsch2pcb or from a fresh installed PCB. But it should be clear that you should check and adjust it, and maybe create defaults for you own.
