For your task gEDA may be not the optimal choice. gEDA can be used for simulation in conjunction with gnucap or ng-spice simulators, but that is not very easy and more used for more complicated and frequency depending task. Many people using gEDA intend to really build a device and make a PCB board. For your task qucs may be a better choice from the FOSS world. Some people use LT-Spice, which is not open source, but can be used free.
