Hello,
is it possible to tell the PCB auto-router that it should not place any vias under SMDs. It would be very "nice", because I usually make my prototype PCBs on my own. So as my home made vias aren't flat (I drill a hole and solder in a wire ...) the vias may not be under SMD devices.
Is it right that PCB uses a cost based auto-router, i.e. one that adds a penality for each via, for the length of a track etc.? If yes, would it be possible to add a *very* high penality for a via under a SMD device?
Because there are some PCB hackers out there, can you tell me where to start? I got many years of C experience and so maybe I can code a patch for this feature if you give me some ideas ...
regards, Christoph Lechner
