thats the basic idea except currently a footprint (element) only has pads, pins, and silk. You really want to also have traces, polygons, vias, and optionally a keepout. I don't think this should be hard, its just a matter of carving out time. Also, there is the question of the best way to handle the connection scanning. -Dan --
