Funny you should point that out today. For the first time in about 2 -- 3 years I ran the project manager this morning. On my previous attempts it would segfault while starting up. Today, it started right up. However, the tools invoked in the pull-down menus are obsolete. "Make pcb" should invoke gsch2pcb (as you say). The "simulate" option runs easy-spice (whatever that is), which isn't part of gEDA. All in all, it is quite possible that a light remodeling of geda will bring it into good shape.
