How well does Varicad work?
It's not quite as nice as MicroStation, but it works as advertised. My biggest complaint with it is that the text based pull down menu(s) are nested to deep on some operations (But, not on all operations). OTOH, the interface is clean and easy to understand and use. Pan and zoom is *fast*. There is a core set of ready to use parts - But, as usual, you will end up drawing many of your own (For whatever reason...). Extrusion and revolution of 2D geometic shapes including cones, pipes, cylinders, prisms and anything else you can think of is there. All of our formal support requests (Not the mailing list, but to Varicad) have been in the form of email and they have bee answered in less than 16 hours. Even so, the majority of our questions have been resolved by searching the varicad user mailing list(s).
If your asking me if I'd buy it again, the answer would be yes - That is, unless MicroStation is ported to Linux. Best Marvin
