But if you don't issue the setcolorspace command then the result is implementation dependent. There is only one gray level in the assembly drawing, but it sucks anyway - it can end up being too bright or too dark, and the PostScript interpreter and subsequent toolchain has no way to tell what kind of shade was meant in the document.
