Hi, The low-level metadata code is ready, so I think that it is time for alpha3 release, but we need some testing first.
Geeqie should write the metadata to the image files or to it's own private files, according to the preferences (advanced options tab). Private files are used also as a fallback if the images are not writable. When the metadata are read back, geeqie should use the most recent source. This needs to be tested with various exiv2 versions and various combinations of options. Please report any problems and unexpected behavior. I think that we could do the release at the beginning of next week if everything goes well.
