Hi,

to test current svn (or any branch/tag of it) on debian (or ubuntu),
you may build a package from sources:

mkdir test

cd test

svn co https://geeqie.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/geeqie/trunk geeqie

cd geeqie

dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot

cd ..

sudo dpkg -i geeqie*.deb

It will build a .deb package and last line will install it system-wide.

Note you may need to install few *-dev packages to be able to compile
geeqie.
There still some issues with the package (like documentation paths).
