This is not that easy. F-Spot has the info about groups in its database,
but geeqie has to detect the groups during directory reading and this has to 
be fast. I will think about it.

AFAIK gconf can store only key - value pairs and geeqie configuration is
tree-like structure. Additionaly, I'd rather keep it as gtk-only application,
without dependencies on gnome libraries.

I don't think that reducing the number of options is a solution, but I agree 
that some options should be less visible than others, etc. Concrete ideas 
for improvement are welcome ;)
