It is one of these reasons - the desktop file contains "Hidden=TRUE" or "NoDisplay=TRUE" entry - TryExec binary was not found - MimeType list does not contain images - MimeType list is empty and Category does not contain X-Geeqie You can change it in editor configuration. For system editors it saves local version of the desktop file, which overrides the system one.
