Thank you Klaus, i did not know the 'ctrl shift click' shortcut !

> 1. Klick on the first image of the first range
> 2. shift-klick on the last image of the first range
> 3. ctrl-klick on the first image of the second range
> 3. ctrl-shift-click on the last image of the second range

However this does not select a range here, it selects only single files like 
Ctrl-Click does.
No diffeerence if Shift Ctrl or Ctrl Shift.

Anyway, before i ask why geeqie does not recognize Ctrl Shift here (which other 
gnome applications  do), i try to escape the tracking effort by putting up the 
question, why not just Shift Click for adding a another range to the existing 
selection ? I mean, if i want to deselect i can use simple click anytime. Why 
Shift Ctrl at all. 
Why make people track tedious keyboard issues :)
