reported.
They confessed their intentions to carry out a jihad during the protests in
Jakarta on May 21 and 22.

While Iqbal refused to provide further details, he did say that substantial
evidence had been found to support the allegations. In addition, the two
came from outside Jakarta to participate in the protests. It was unknown if
they were also linked to the terror suspects arrested earlier in May.

Iqbal added that more details of the two arrested would be released after
authorities find other individuals from the same group.

The group Garis has expressed their support for IS in the past and have
sent fighters to Syria. Abu Baker Ba’asyir, the mastermind of the Bali
bombings, was a high ranking member of Garis as well, they said.

The protests in Jakarta were led by supports of defeated candidate Prabowo
Subianto and they tried to force their way into the election commission
office in Jakarta. The trouble started on May 21. By Wednesday, 185 had
been arrested, with an additional 257 arrested for rioting in different
locations throughout the Indonesian capital.
