I just want to limit the exact set of things that we can vary (the equivalent to sticky_vars) to ISA, emulation, and protocol. I'd also really like to get protocol out of that set. (Actually, I want to get rid of everything from that set. Emulation won't be terribly difficult, but of course ISA will be pretty hard.)
