Personally, I don't like it.  While /dist may be bizarre, we use it
all over the place (I have half a dozen machines with a /dist).  Is
there a reason to not support it in the default path?  IMHO, it would
just needlessly break stuff.  There's a lot of documentation that
refers to /dist too.  Also, if you're going to re-work the way that
the path stuff works, why not use my diff?
