I don't think ptxdist is really used much for gem5 any more, so you
might want to try setting up an image using a Gentoo tar ball. We have
documentation about this sort of thing here:

Specifically you'll want to look at the "Workloads" section under "Disk
images". I think we may already have some images available which you can
start with. That same section should help you modify an existing image
to put your application on it.
