Hi all,

With the addition of ARMv8, the generated CPU models are quite taxing on the
compiler. gcc uses around 3 GB per thread (so if you compile even with –j 2 you
will have issues). clang tends to be far less demanding in terms of memory
usage. We’re looking at ways to try and reduce the RAM consumed during
compilation.

Hi all ,
My Laptop Memory(RAM) is 3 GB .
I was building the gem5.opt file using the "scons build/ARM/gem5.opt"
command . But after a few minutes all of my memory gets utilised and the
build stops automatically . So is there any minimum memory requirement to
build gem5.opt in general or might there be any other problem ?
