Hi Mike, I can't reproduce your issue on my system. Are you using an Intel system? In SE mode, gem5 sets the machine state as the OS kernel would have and it enters virtualized mode without an actual kernel. I must mention that I have done all the development on an AMD system. So if you are using an Intel system the machine state might be slightly different, so I would see this a cause for the failure you're observing.
