Hi all, In FS mode, I execute some Parsec applications on the top of a 4 cores ARMv7 platform. I have 2 levels of cache, l1 = 32kB, l2 = 2MB. In the first scenario, the l2 cache has tag and data latency respectively equal to 35 and 23. In the second scenario, these latencies are equal to 50 and 55. The other parameters are unchanged.
Obviously, I am expecting a longer execution time with my second scenario. But, this is not the case for all applications. Sometimes, having a slower l2 cache leads to a faster execution. How such thing could happen ? Is this normal under special circumstances ? Thank you. -- +--------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pierre-Yves Péneau - PhD candidate | first.last at lirmm.fr | | LIRMM / CNRS - ADAC research group | + 33 4 67 41 86 65 | | Building 4 Office 2.92 | http://walafc0.org | +--------------------------------------------------------------+
